Do I need some special skills to display Flash ads on the web?
Absolutely not. Just like our flagship Flash banner generator, the Disco system was designed specifically to serve non-technical personnel. You can start your Flash ad campaign in minutes - create your Flash banner, sign up for the Disco account and copy one line of HTML code into your web pages (or submit the code to your web publisher).

Should I use your Flash banner generator service to use the Disco?
No, you are free to publish your own Flash ad banners. We recommend you to follow the online advertisement standards to track ad clickthroughs; otherwise only ad imressions (views) are reported. Please read the following answer to learn details.

What are requirements for my own Flash ads?
We have no special requirements or restrictions, you are free to publish any Flash ad. Our only recommendation: to track your Flash banner's clickthroughs, the ad must meet the Rich Media tracking standard as described in the Macromedia Flash Advertising Alliance guidelines (MFAA is a group of leaders in the advertising sector). If the banner is provided by an ad designer or agency, just ask them to follow this standard; they can tune up your ad in no time. Or, if you have the very basic Flash authoring skills, please read on. The standard is pretty simple. Your Flash ad should include a "link" button, which directs the browser to an advertised page or website ("destination or clickthru URL"). Just assign the following action to this button:

on (release) {
getURL (clickTAG);
}

Make sure that the "Expression" option for the "URL" field is checked.

That's all! Our system will do the rest.
To learn more about creation of standard Flash ads, please read Designer's Guide: Building Macromedia Flash Banners with Tracking Capabilities.

Can the average web surfer actually view my ads?
Adobe Flash is defacto web animation standard. Currently 97.8% of Web users can experience Flash content without having to download and install a player. (NPD Research browser survey, June 2002). It comes bundled with all major operating systems and browsers on the market. To ensure the maximum acceptance, we recommend to publish your ad creatives as Flash 4 movies.

How to display Flash ads at my (or my publisher) website?
Once you logged into your Disco account, click the "Add banner" link in the menu bar and enter two required parameters, the URL of your Flash ad banner and its destination URL (advertised web page/website). The system will check if your ad is accessible from the web, and generate the one line HTML code. To start your ad campaign, copy this code and paste it into your webpage(s), or send the code to your web publisher. Our system will immediately start serving your ad banner. Disco users can manage and publish up to 10 Flash banners simultaneously from one account.

Can my advertisers track the performanse/statistics of their ads?
Your advertiser can (and, actually, need) access daily and monthly ad statistics just as you do from your Disco account. To grant the read-only "Advertiser access" to specific banner reports, enter the "Advertiser access" password when adding new banner or by editing your running banner settings. You can also use this direct access to ad reports to quickly check your ad stats without having to log into your Disco account.

What is the "banner priority"?
This option is important if you are adding more than one banner of the same format to your account. Think of it as of "broadcasting weight" of your ad. If you have a group of banners of the same format, they are displayed in a random order. You set priority to display some ads more frequently than others. For example, an ad with weight "1" will be shown twice more often than an ad with weight "2". If all ads have equal "weights", they will be shown with equal frequency. "1" is the highest, and "5" is the lowest ad priority.

Can I place more than one ad on the same page?
Yes, you can. However, in order to keep your ads statistics more relevant, we do not recoommend to put multiple banners of the same format on the same page.

Can I limit the maximum views and or clickthroughs for my banners?
You can set your ads to "auto-expire" after certain numbers of banner views (also known as impressions or exposures), clickthroughs (or "clicks" for short) or after a certain number of days. You can also use a combination of views/clicks/days limit. The system will put the banner on hold once the specified limit will be reached. To limit a banner campaign, specify the expiry settings when adding new banner or edit your running banner settings.

My free trial is over. How can I resume using your system?
What happen if my account runs out of banner views?

The Disco will notify you when available banner views on your account dropped below certain value. To resume ad serving you have to add more views to your account. If there is no banner views left, the system marks account as inactive and stops serving your ads. To keep using your account, you can reactivate it within 30 days by adding more banner views. After this period your account and all associated data will be automatically erased.
